Welcome to Small Batch Cattle Co.
Our little slice of farm life in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
At the end of the day, we're just two friends who love our animals, love our families, love farm life, and probably said "we should get one" one too many times.
We're so excited to share our animals and a little piece of the life we love with you.
Our Story
Our story starts with two women who became dear friends and, somewhere along the way, became more like sisters. We spent our careers working in healthcare and the insurance industry. But what we really loved? Farm life, animals, and being outside.
Our families became close, our friendship grew, and eventually we decided to combine our love of animals with a dream of creating something where other people could experience the same joy we find on the farm every day.
And that's how Small Batch Cattle Co. came to life.
So, why "Small Batch"
Well, we're in Bourbon Country, and around here, small batch is kind of a thing. But our name also happens to describe our favorite residents pretty perfectly.
We're home to mini and micro Highland cows, mini ponies, mini goats, and alpacas—basically, a whole lot of animals that are small in size but have absolutely no idea they're supposed to be.
So Small Batch just seemed right.
Around here, we're producing small batches of just about everything.
Our animals aren't livestock to us. They're family. They make us laugh, slow us down, get our clothes dirty, and remind us that some of life's best moments are the simple ones.
Why we do it
Our dream is simple: we want to share what brings us joy, with you.
Whether you're celebrating a birthday, hosting a wedding or special event, gathering with family and friends, taking photos, or simply looking for a little more country in your day, we want our animals to add something special.
A smile.
A laugh.
A little fur.
Because we believe the best memories can sometimes be little messy, a little chaotic, and involve a miniature Highland cow who can also have a bad hair day.
